Two years is long enough to forget how crazy the last week of the elections is. From rumors of surprise races to breaking news events with unknown political consequences, each cycle often includes a fast and furious finish.

In the midst of uncertainty (and the wake of 2016), it would be easy to throw a ton of races into our toss-up category and broaden our ranges of projected outcomes in order to ensure the results fell within our expectations. But that wouldn’t be particularly helpful to our readers.
