President Trump[1] on Thursday called Charles Koch’s tariff criticism “ridiculous” for defending foreign workers, and Mr. Trump[2] suggested the conservative donor hasn’t backed that many politicians.

Charles Koch of Koch Brothers, who claims to be giving away millions of dollars to politicians even though I know very few who have seen this (?), now makes the ridiculous statement that what President Trump[3] is doing is unfair to “foreign workers.” He is correct, AMERICA FIRST!...

Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 2, 2018[4][5] Mr. Trump[6]’s comments come just two days after his previous pushback against the Koch brothers, Charles and David Koch. Tuesday, he called the famous conservatives a “total joke in real Republican circles.” The president is referring to comments Mr. Koch made during a Q&A with reporters Sunday night. According to  ABC News, Mr. Koch said it was “unfair to their people,” referring to countries hit by tariffs. It was the same session where he warned about the policies triggering a recession.   The White House pushed back against the comments and emphasized that Mr. Trump[7] believes in free trade but wants fair practices. The Koch network challenged the president on a few fronts recently. In June, three branches of the network launched a campaign to fight Mr. Trump[8]’s tariff strategy. The network of donors also declined to back a few Republicans in key midterm races, including Kevin Cramer who received the full endorsement of the president. However, Mr. Trump[9] and the Koch brothers are still on the same page about Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh. Americans for Prosperity, an organization within the Koch network, launched a $1 million campaign to support Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation in the Senate.
