BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts is getting five new federal prosecutors to work on violent crime, civil enforcement and immigration cases.

The new prosecutors are among 311 new assistant U.S. attorneys recently announced nationwide by Republican President Donald Trump’s administration.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts will hire two new prosecutors who will focus on violent crime and two who will work on civil enforcement. The fifth new assistant U.S. attorney will prosecute immigration crimes.

Nationwide, 190 of the new prosecutors will take on violent crime, while 86 will be civil enforcement prosecutors and 35 will work on immigration cases. Officials say many of the civil enforcement prosecutors will support a task force that targets the opioid crisis.
