A July 20-25 poll from Alaska Survey Research indicates a competitive race to succeed the late Rep. Don Young. Pollster Ivan Moore found Democrat Mary Peltola in front with 41 percent, followed by Republicans Nick Begich III (30 percent) and Sarah Palin (29 percent). The election will use ranked choice instant runoff voting, so the candidate in last place will be eliminated and their votes redistributed based on voters’ second preference.
